Spice Up Your Summer Workout To Get That Bikini-Ready Body!
Bored of the Treadmill or Exercise Bike?
Doing the same work out on the same piece of equipment day in day out can become tiresome and boring. Your body stops feeling challenged and the workouts become like chore, you stop looking forward to spending time on your equipment and before you know it its gathered dust and you have gained a few more pounds than you would like. As summer approaches we start to look at the celebrities in the magazines with their beach perfect bodies and mentally we are ready to dust off the old machines but physically our bodies are craving for something new and exciting. Cross trainers look quite confusing and strange to those of us that have never really used them before, however it is a fantastic piece of kit. The cross trainer allows you to work more of your body and muscles than a treadmill or exercise bike would. So if you are looking for a piece of equipment that keep both your body and mind challenged then a cross trainer would be a great addition to any household.
Mixing up your daily routine
There is always more than one way to use a piece of equipment and it is all about learning what movements effect what muscles so you can vary your workout and get the most out of your cross trainer. Don’t let your work out become boring and repetitive.
Toning your Booty
Target your Glutes and Hamstrings by bending your knees and keeping your heels down whilst you are on the elliptical cross trainer. This will help to tone your backside.
This work out is all about letting go. By not holding on to the handles you engage all of your core muscles as you work out harder or try to stay balanced. Increasing your speed will also indicate you are working your core harder.
Pretend it is a Treadmill
Your cross trainer will not be offended if you start to imagine it is a treadmill when you are using it. You can use the cross trainer to mimic what running on a treadmill feels like. You can even keep your arms in a running position by not holding the handles.
Interval Training for a limited workout time
So you find yourself with 25 minutes free time, you want to work out but you also want to get the most from your work out. A great cardio work out is to introduce intervals so you can increase your heart rate and then allow it to rest. This is also known as HIIT which means High Intensity Interval Training. HIIT training allows you to burn a large number of calories in a short period of time. Divide your time as equally as possible and start of on a low resistance. Here is an example of a HIIT workout: 5 Mins Level 1, 5 Mins Level 5, 5 Mins Level 3, 5 Mins Level 7, 5 Mins Level 2. Your work out needs to include a warm up and a cool down if possible.

Here are a few handy tips for beginners to remember when using an elliptical cross trainer. Pedalling forward will work your quads. Pedalling backwards works your hamstrings and bum. Pushing the handles works your chest area. Pulling the handles will work your upper back and letting go off the handles will work your core stability.

Keep yourself motivated by spicing up your routine and varying the muscles you work out on. You will soon be on your way to perfecting that bikini ready body and giving those celebrities a run for their money on the beach.
