A recent study from Iowa state University encourages us to pick up weights a few times a week for better overall health. The study showed that spending less than an hour a week on weight training can reduce the risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke by 40 – 70 percent! Weight loss

 

Although cardio is commonly used for aiding weight loss, weights can be a very good addition to this. It can be argued that weight training work outs don’t normally burn as many calories as a cardio workout, but weight training is more effective at building muscle (shock). Muscle burns more calories at rest than other tissues, which is the key to increasing your resting metabolism. For mums who are struggling to lose those extra few pounds, adding in weights to their workout might just do the trick to give them the boot for good.

Rehabilitation

 

Injuries can really slow us down and sometimes the recovery after can be longer than we expect. Adding weights and resistance into any rehabilitation can really help improve the speed and the success of the exercises.

Recovery
